About The Role We are seeking a talented Python Developer to join our team and work closely with the Vanguard Personalized Indexing portfolio management team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and building automation solutions that streamline workflows, improve efficiency, and reduce operational costs. This role involves developing full-stack applications and scripts that facilitate data collection, analysis, and decision-making processes for portfolio managers.
Developer will evaluate when to implement local scripting solutions versus integrating more comprehensive enhancements into existing systems, ensuring optimal performance and scalability. The position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative financial technology solutions, working in a collaborative environment that values technical expertise and proactive problem-solving. The successful candidate will be based in Oakland and will play a pivotal role in transforming portfolio management operations through automation and system optimization.
Qualifications Proven experience as a Python Developer, with strong programming skills in Python.
Knowledge of investment systems, trading platforms, securities, and financial workflows is highly preferred.
Experience with full-stack software development, including front-end and back-end technologies.
Familiarity with AWS services such as Lambda, ECS, and related infrastructure.
Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with portfolio managers and technical teams.
Ability to quickly understand complex workflows and develop tailored automation solutions.
AWS certification is a plus, demonstrating expertise in cloud infrastructure.
Prior experience in financial services or investment management is advantageous.

Collaborate with portfolio managers to understand their needs and translate them into technical solutions.
