SCADA Engineer / Python Engineer

Location: Houston, TX (Onsite 5 Days/Week)

We're seeking a SCADA Engineer to join a fast-paced Real-Time Operations team supporting upstream Oil & Gas operations. This role is ideal for someone with a Computer Science background who enjoys building applications, automating processes with Python, working with large datasets, and solving complex technical problems.

This position blends software engineering, data management, and industrial technology. You'll help support and enhance SCADA systems that enable real-time operational visibility while working closely with engineering and field teams.

What You'll Be Doing

• Develop and maintain Python applications, automation scripts, and tools supporting SCADA operations
• Administer and support Ignition SCADA environments
• Build custom scripting solutions to improve system functionality and operational efficiency
• Query, manipulate, and analyze operational data using SQL and database technologies
• Assist with large-scale data normalization and data quality initiatives
• Design and enhance operator-facing SCADA screens and dashboards
• Troubleshoot system issues across software, databases, and operational technology environments
• Support field deployments and travel to client sites as needed
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and technology teams on system improvements and new initiatives

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field
• 2 years of professional experience developing with Python
• Experience building applications, internal tools, or automation solutions
• Experience working with databases and writing SQL queries
