Job description

Senior Python Software Engineer

Location: Remote

Salary: $160,000–$250,000 USD + performance-based bonus

Join a growing investment business at the intersection of software engineering, data science, and financial markets. The company uses proprietary machine learning technology to identify opportunities in the U.S. consumer lending sector, with a focus on personal and auto loans.

Managing over $1 billion in capital, the business is investing in its technology capabilities to support increasingly sophisticated investment strategies, improve data-driven decision-making, and develop new fintech solutions.

This role offers the chance to work on technically challenging projects where engineering decisions have a direct impact on business performance. You’ll collaborate with experienced developers and quantitative researchers in an environment that encourages autonomy, knowledge sharing, and continuous development.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Engineer reliable, scalable backend systems for handling large volumes of financial and market data.
  • Develop Python applications that power analytical tools, predictive models, and investment-related workflows.
  • Work alongside quantitative researchers to translate research concepts into efficient, production-ready solutions.
  • Improve existing systems by identifying performance bottlenecks and refining architecture.
  • Develop integrations with external financial services providers and fintech platforms.
  • Contribute to technical planning and architectural decisions as the platform evolves.
  • Support the growth of the engineering team by sharing expertise and mentoring less experienced developers.
What You’ll Bring
  • At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong Python expertise and a track record of delivering production-quality applications.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • The ability to break down complex technical problems and develop practical, well-designed solutions.
  • A proactive approach to ownership, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and research-focused colleagues.
  • Experience supporting or mentoring other engineers.
Additional experience that would be valuable:
  • Exposure to financial services, investment technology, consumer lending, or structured finance.
  • Experience building data-intensive applications or working with machine learning and predictive modelling.
  • An understanding of how quantitative research and software engineering come together in financial markets.
What’s in It for You?
  • $160,000–$250,000 USD annual base salary, with additional performance-based bonus potential.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Company retirement savings plan.
  • Remote working flexibility and flexible paid time off.
  • The opportunity to build technology used in real investment and financial decision-making.
  • Close collaboration with quantitative researchers and senior technical stakeholders.
  • A supportive, low-ego environment where engineers can influence technical direction, take ownership, and see the results of their work.
