2. About the Opportunity
: The
Python Developer
role supports the transformation of the Veterans Benefits Administration by developing backend services and automation tools that improve claims processing visibility and speed. This position contributes directly to accelerating the delivery of benefits to veterans and their families, ensuring a more transparent and efficient system.
3. Responsibilities
:
- Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs using Python deployed in AWS.
- Develop and operate microservices integrating AWS services like Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, S3, SNS/SQS, and CloudWatch.
- Collaborate with teams to deliver secure, scalable, and cloud-optimized solutions.
- Write and maintain automated tests and participate in code reviews.
- Support CI/CD pipelines and containerized deployments using GitLab, Docker, and Kubernetes/ECS.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and provide technical insights and effort estimates.
- Troubleshoot and optimize cloud workloads for performance, scalability, and compliance.
4. Requirements
:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 6–8 years of professional software development experience.
- 4+ years of hands-on Python development.
- Strong production experience with AWS and proficiency with services including Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, SNS/SQS, and IAM.
- Solid understanding of cloud-native design patterns, microservices, and REST API design.
- Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and Git version control.
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, and secure code.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
5. Pay Range and Compensation Package
:
- The likely salary range is $107,744 to $143,750, subject to experience, location, and contractual requirements.
