About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Python Developer to join our client, a prominent global bank, on a contract basis in Rutherford, New Jersey. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic financial environment, contributing to the development and enhancement of advanced machine learning systems. The position is hybrid, requiring onsite presence 2-3 days per week, and is initially contracted for 12+ months with a strong potential for extension or conversion to permanent employment. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in designing scalable solutions, leading cross-functional teams across different time zones, and driving innovation in financial data science and machine learning applications.
Qualifications The successful candidate will possess a PhD or master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field. A minimum of five years of industry experience as a data scientist, with a focus on machine learning modeling, ranking, recommendations, or personalization systems, is required. Candidates should demonstrate extensive experience in developing scalable and reliable ML systems for training, inference, monitoring, and iteration. A strong background in ML/DL/LLM algorithms, model architectures, and training techniques is essential. Proficiency in Python, SQL, Spark, PySpark, TensorFlow, or other analytical and model-building programming languages is expected. Familiarity with tools and large language models (LLMs) is highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should have the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Responsibilities The Python Developer will be responsible for architecting, designing, and implementing robust Python-based solutions that support the bank’s data science initiatives. This includes leading global technology teams across different time zones, fostering a collaborative hybrid work environment. The role involves driving object-oriented programming principles, mentoring team members on advanced Python coding techniques, and ensuring adherence to best practices in software development. The developer will partner with various management teams to ensure seamless integration of systems, identify necessary enhancements, and support the deployment of new products and process improvements. They will analyze complex business processes, develop innovative solutions, and ensure the application architecture aligns with overall strategic goals. The role also requires developing standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation, along with providing technical guidance and coaching to mid-level developers and analysts.
Experience with shell scripting, Linux features, and implementing unit testing and TDD methodologies is essential to ensure high-quality, maintainable software. The developer will also be involved in resolving high-impact problems, evaluating industry standards, and developing comprehensive system flow documentation.
