Python/Flask Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Flask routes, Jinja templates, JavaScript features, and REST-style APIs.
• Write safe, maintainable MySQL queries and support schema migrations.
• Build integrations with SharePoint, Confluence, Agile PLM, LDAP, SMTP, and internal AI services.
• Extend LangGraph and LangChain workflows and AI summarization features, and recognize when a deterministic rule is the better answer.
• Create automated tests using pytest and Playwright, including coverage for AI-backed features where output is not deterministic.
• Diagnose production issues using logs, metrics, database evidence, and reproducible test cases.
• Improve documentation, deployment scripts, cache refresh jobs, and operational tooling.
• Follow secure development practices for authentication, authorization, internal data, and secrets.
• Use AI coding assistants in day-to-day development, with the judgment to know when output needs rewriting rather than accepting, and the discipline to review anything touching authentication, secrets, or compliance data regardless of what wrote it.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Professional experience with Python and web application development.
• Familiarity with Flask or another backend web framework.
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Experience with Git, automated testing, and debugging.
• Basic understanding of HTTP, REST APIs, JSON, OAuth/OIDC, and Linux environments.
• Working fluency with AI coding assistants, and the habit of reviewing what they produce before committing it.
