Senior Java Developer (Java 21 Modernization)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced

Senior Java Modernization Engineer to lead the modernization and upgrade of legacy J2EE applications to

Java 21

. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java, Spring, AWS, application modernization, and hands-on experience using

OpenRewrite for automated code refactoring and migrations.

Mandatory Skills

Strong experience in

Java/J2EE development

Expertise in

Spring Framework / Spring Boot

Experience with

Apache Struts

Strong knowledge of

Maven

Experience with

IBM WebSphere Application Server or

Open Liberty/WebSphere Liberty

• Hands-on experience with

  Docker

Experience using

OpenRewrite for Java application modernization

Strong database experience with

Oracle Database

Experience working with

AWS Cloud Services

• Hands-on experience with

  Claude Code/CLI or other AI-assisted development tools

• Proven experience upgrading legacy applications to

  Java 21

Prior experience in

J2EE application migration and modernization projects

Responsibilities

• Upgrade and modernize legacy J2EE applications to Java 21.
• Analyze and refactor existing codebases using OpenRewrite and modernization tools.
• Migrate applications running on WebSphere to modern runtime environments where applicable.
• Develop and maintain enterprise applications using Java, Spring, and AWS services.
• Work closely with architects and business teams to define modernization strategies.
• Containerize applications using Docker.
• Optimize application performance, security, and scalability.
• Leverage AI development tools such as Claude Code/CLI to improve engineering productivity.
