About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Backend Developer with deep expertise in Python and FastAPI to contribute to a large-scale website redesign and modernization project for JioMart, one of India's leading e-commerce platforms. This role demands strong backend engineering fundamentals, performance optimization expertise, and a collaborative mindset to work closely with front-end teams, DevOps, and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable RESTful APIs using FastAPI and Python.
• Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate APIs with modern UI components and workflows.
• Translate business and functional requirements into robust, secure, and efficient backend services.
• Optimize services for high performance, low latency, and scalability across large traffic volumes.
• Ensure seamless integration with third-party services, databases, and internal microservices.
• Implement and follow best practices around code reviews, testing (unit, integration), and CI/CD pipelines.
• Handle authentication, authorization, error handling, and data modeling with industry-standard security and compliance practices.
• Collaborate with UI/UX teams, DevOps, and QA to ensure delivery timelines and quality standards.

Must-Have Skills

• 6–8 years of backend development experience, with at least 3+ years using Python + FastAPI.
• Strong understanding of asynchronous programming in Python (async/await, event loops).
• Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.
• Solid grasp of API design principles, OpenAPI/Swagger documentation, and versioning strategies.
• Experience working in agile development environments and DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with Docker, Git, CI/CD, and cloud platforms like AWS or GCP.
• Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

• Experience working on e-commerce platforms, high-traffic consumer applications, or performance-sensitive projects.
• Familiarity with GraphQL, WebSockets, and caching strategies (e.g., Redis).
• Exposure to front-end technologies (React, Next.js) to better collaborate with UI teams.
• Knowledge of API security standards (OAuth2, JWT) and role-based access control.
