Software Architect - Java, Cloud Solutions

Requirements

Must have:

- 8-10+ years of backend or full-stack development experience, including 3+ years in a Lead or Architect role - Proven ability to craft scalable and reliable systems while managing trade-offs between performance, cost, and complexity - Experience in designing and managing cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP), with expertise in Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform) and modern CI/CD practices - Strong proficiency in both relational and non-relational databases, encompassing schema design, performance optimization, and scalable data modeling - Background in developing systems that handle performance, reliability, and increased user demand in B2C or high-concurrency environments - Knowledge of monitoring and maintaining system health, including uptime, performance metrics, and incident management - Familiarity with application and data security protocols, including secure system design and authentication methods - Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts, trade-offs, and decisions to varied stakeholders - Experience collaborating closely with product and design teams during discovery and delivery phases - Experience with AI/automation integration to enhance development workflows or system quality - Familiarity with operating within EOS or similar product operating frameworks (Nice to Have) - Exposure to modern cloud-native technologies, such as Kubernetes, AWS, and TypeScript/Node (Nice to Have)

Responsibilities:

- Own and advance the foundational architecture of our platforms to guarantee scalability, security, and performance while ensuring all architectural choices are well-documented for team adoption - Define and enhance the coding standards that express the Destify Way, maintaining high-quality code through guidelines and systemic constraints - Oversee the quality and clarity of all technical documentation across backend services to ensure accuracy - Direct and strategize our cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP) for efficiency, reliability, and stability while collaborating with engineering for scalable operations - Govern the design and management of data systems, ensuring clear patterns are documented for consistent use - Create and refine automated CI/CD pipelines for efficient code delivery to production, proactively identifying technical debt and security issues - Facilitate the documentation and accessibility of infrastructure systems, empowering the broader engineering team for shared ownership - Act as the technical representative during product ideation, assessing risks and determining build versus buy scenarios while ensuring alignment across Engineering, Product, and Design - Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to effectively manage technical debt and ensure the team is equipped with the right tools for productivity - Ensure technical decisions and dependencies are documented and communicated clearly across the team, fostering collaboration and understanding - Address complex technical challenges, providing guidance and ensuring solutions are well-documented and transferrable across the team - Support the team in overcoming critical issues while reinforcing patterns that encourage independence from specific individuals
