About The Role Lumen is seeking a talented Lead Software Developer to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in driving the development of scalable, secure, and high-quality enterprise applications that support our innovative network solutions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering robust software solutions, providing technical leadership, and mentoring development teams. You will work across both frontend and backend layers, architecting RESTful services, managing database integrations, and championing best practices in automated testing and quality assurance. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for application improvements, optimizing development practices, and enhancing customer experiences.

As a key member of our development team, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders, including systems architects, project managers, and analysts, to translate business needs into reliable technical solutions. Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional experience in software development, with a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and experience
• 5+ years of experience with a Master’s Degree or higher in related fields
• Proven expertise in building backend applications and microservices using Node.js
• Strong proficiency in developing modern frontend single-page applications with Vue.js
• Experience leveraging AI coding assistants to improve development productivity while maintaining code quality and security standards
• Extensive experience designing, building, and consuming RESTful web services
• Solid working knowledge of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL
• Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Playwright
• Deep understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript, asynchronous programming, and web application architecture
• Proficiency with Git version control systems and collaborative git-flow processes
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Preferred qualifications include experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services, containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, Java, NoSQL databases like MongoDB, and knowledge of web application security protocols including OAuth/JWT.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, develop, and maintain high-performing, scalable web applications utilizing Node.js and Vue.js
• Build, optimize, and enhance RESTful APIs and backend microservices for seamless enterprise integration
• Create responsive, intuitive, and high-performance user interfaces with Vue.js
• Design and optimize database schemas and queries for relational databases (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL data stores (MongoDB, optional)
• Lead automated testing initiatives by developing and maintaining test suites using Playwright and other modern frameworks
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex application performance issues, security vulnerabilities, and defects
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including system architects, project managers, and analysts to define and implement functional requirements
• Participate in code reviews, mentor junior developers, and promote best practices in development, CI/CD, and security standards
• Support continuous integration, deployment, and operational activities across development, testing, and production environments
