About the Role

Southeast Culvert Inc. is seeking a Software Developer, Python and Data Applications to maintain, extend, and build internal software, data, reporting, and automation tools that solve business problems, improve productivity, and deliver value across the organization.

Working under senior technical direction, this role follows defined engineering standards while developing toward independent ownership of production systems. The position works directly with departments across the business to understand requirements and build practical solutions.

  • Support and maintain desktop estimating and pricing applications distributed through an installer.
  • Manage scheduled automations that connect systems across multiple environments.
  • Follow established development practices, including version control, separate environments, code reviews, and documentation.
  • Work directly with departments such as estimating and the plant floor to gather first-hand requirements.
  • Maintain current documentation and ensure every owned system has a designated backup.
  • Participate in regular code evaluation and plan review sessions.
  • Complete a fully supervised project through the development pipeline within the first 90 days.
  • Progress toward independent ownership of the reporting environment and coding standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Strong, hands-on Python development experience applied to real business problems.
  • Experience using an AI coding assistant for real development work, including the ability to identify when AI-generated code is incorrect.
  • Ability to read and understand code written by others and predict its behavior before execution.
  • Working knowledge of SQL or a strong willingness to learn SQL quickly.
  • Ability to identify potential production issues, including empty inputs and date-boundary problems.
  • Ability to work within defined engineering standards and communicate directly when a standard does not fit a particular problem.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical coworkers.
  • Dependable follow-through and strong documentation practices.
  • Ability to identify business needs and proactively solve problems.
  • Ability to clarify requirements through questions rather than making assumptions.
  • Ability to remain dependable and collaborative when working under pressure.
  • Willingness to work on-site in Winder, GA.
  • Willingness to sign a confidentiality agreement and a limited, one-year non-compete agreement covering direct competitors, as a condition of employment.
Advanced Software Developer Experience
  • Experience with Angular and TypeScript, or willingness to learn them as the role develops toward front-end ownership.
  • Exposure to Azure cloud engineering.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with containerization.
