About the Role

L3Harris is seeking a Specialist, Software Engineering to support a Research and Development Contract (RDC). The position focuses on designing, developing, testing, integrating, and maintaining large-scale image processing software.

Working with cross-functional engineering teams, the Software Engineer will develop software interfaces, services, and data-processing capabilities based on operational performance requirements and overall system design. The role is well suited to candidates with experience in scalable data infrastructure, image processing, and geospatial applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, integrate, and sustain software components using C++ and/or Python.
• Support the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, code review, integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment.
• Develop and maintain software interfaces and services supporting mission applications.
• Build and support data-processing capabilities for mission applications.
• Troubleshoot software defects and support integration, testing, and deployment activities.
• Apply secure software-development practices.
• Comply with applicable program security requirements.
• Work with cross-functional engineering teams to develop software in line with operational performance requirements and overall system design.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience; or a graduate degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
• In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
• Eligibility to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications / Requirements

• Thorough understanding of software engineering principles and industry best practices, including Agile development.
• Experience with object-oriented design, debugging, and software integration.
• Proficiency developing and maintaining software applications using C++ and/or Python.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Git, Jira, and Confluence.
• Experience with automated testing and continuous software-delivery practices.
• Experience developing, deploying, or sustaining applications in Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments.
• Experience building or supporting cloud-native applications using containers, Kubernetes, or related orchestration platforms.
• Familiarity with image-processing concepts, algorithms, and analysis techniques.
• Familiarity with remote-sensing systems, including sensor modalities, data collection, and geospatial applications.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance.

Salary & Benefits

• California salary range: $97,000–$180,000.
• Florida salary range: $84,500–$157,500.
• Final compensation may vary based on factors including experience and geographic location.
• Benefits may include health and disability insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, employee assistance program, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and company-paid holidays.
• Specific benefit programs and options may vary based on date of hire, schedule type, and applicable collective bargaining agreements.

Location & Work Arrangement

• Job locations: Los Angeles, CA or Melbourne, FL.
• Work schedule: 9/80, with employees working 9 out of every 14 days for a total of 80 hours and every other Friday off.
