Hybrid 2 weeks per month onsite in Smithfield, RI

Our client seeks a senior data-focused software engineer to build and enhance performance measurement and analysis platforms within a wealth management domain. The role centers on SQL, Spark, and data engineering across Snowflake and Oracle with AWS exposure, along with Java to support a data transformation engine. You will deliver scalable ETL and cloud-native solutions, contribute to design and code reviews, and collaborate within an agile team to advance a high-visibility investment performance platform.

Due to client requirements, applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. For our w2 consultants, we offer a great benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, 401k with company matching, and life insurance.

Rate: $65.00 to $75.00/hr. w2

Responsibilities:

• Deliver high quality, timely, cost effective, and maintainable software solutions in an agile environment to meet functional and non-functional requirements.

• Participate in application design and collaborate with the team to deliver software.

• Apply engineering practices including code and design reviews.

• Perform analysis, design, coding, testing, problem resolution, and planning across the software development lifecycle.

• Analyze issues and make timely decisions using facts, knowledge, experience, and judgment.

• Coordinate with stakeholders and present updates in one-on-one, small, and large group settings, including peers and senior management.

Experience Requirements:

• 8+ years of design and development experience.

• Strong SQL expertise.

• Proficiency with database technologies including Snowflake and Oracle.

• Object-oriented development with Java and/or Python.

• Hands-on experience with Spark in Java or Scala; AWS EMR experience is advantageous.

• Experience with AWS and containerization using Docker and EKS.

• Background in building scalable and robust ETL solutions, business intelligence, and data lakes.

• Strong design and analysis skills for large data platforms.

• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD tools such as Maven, Jenkins, GitHub, Terraform, Docker, and Artifactory.

• Experience working within an agile scrum environment.

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills to work across multiple teams.

• Expertise in code reviews and efficient coding practices.

• Experience building monitoring and alerting for failures and performance degradation.

• Ability to guide and motivate engineers and act independently with minimal direction.

• Financial services industry experience (preferred).

• PySpark experience (preferred).

• Snowflake experience beyond SQL fundamentals (preferred).

• EMR and broader AWS services experience (preferred).

• Python experience (preferred).

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technology-related field such as Engineering or Computer Science.

• AWS certification (preferred).
