Requirements
Must have:
- We require at least 3 years of professional software development experience on Agile teams.
- We require a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent additional experience.
- We need strong hands-on experience building backend services and REST APIs in Python, including production experience with Django.
- We require experience with relational databases, especially PostgreSQL, including query tuning and schema design contributions.
- We need working proficiency in Java to maintain, extend, and troubleshoot existing components.
- We require hands-on experience developing front-end features with TypeScript and React.
- We need working experience with Solr and Elasticsearch.
- We require experience building microservices and REST APIs, including authentication, authorization, and error handling.
- We need proficiency with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
- We require experience developing and deploying applications in AWS environments.
- We need working knowledge of Terraform for infrastructure as code.
- We require experience with Jenkins continuous integration and Git-based source control.
- We need experience working in Agile and Scrum environments, including user-story-driven development in JIRA with story-point estimation.
- We require strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively on a fully remote, integrated government and contractor team.
- Public Trust eligibility is required, and we must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate federal background investigation or suitability determination.

Responsibilities:
- We design, develop, and unit test Python and Django backend services and REST APIs within a scrum team working on a three-week sprint cadence.
- We build data transformation and ETL routines that move content and metadata between enterprise systems, including mapping, normalization, validation, and reconciliation.
- We implement content identification and selection logic, including filtering, classification rules, and manual, scheduled, and event-driven triggers.
- We develop API integration and content transfer capabilities with authentication, authorization, secure transport, retries, error handling, and transaction logging.
- We work with PostgreSQL data models by writing and tuning queries and supporting schema design and migrations for registries, workflow state, and audit history.
- We implement background and asynchronous processing for long-running or batched operations, including queueing, retries, and status tracking.
- We maintain and extend existing Java components when needed, following established coding standards.
- We integrate malware scanning, integrity validation, and routing utilities into content exchange workflows through their documented APIs.
- We build backend support for workflow administration features, including work queues, role-based permissions, exception handling paths, and audit logging.
- We implement and maintain search functionality using Solr and Elasticsearch, including indexing and query development.
- We develop accessible, responsive user-facing features with TypeScript, React, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3 for workflow and administrative interfaces in line with WCAG 2.1 standards.
- We deploy and maintain services across AWS development, test, staging, and production environments, contributing to Terraform infrastructure as code and Docker-based containerization.
- We use Jenkins and Git for continuous integration, including automated build, test, and code quality checks such as SonarQube.
- We author unit tests for our code, collaborate with government QA staff on acceptance, integration, and accessibility testing, and help define acceptance criteria.
- We participate in Agile ceremonies including story creation, daily stand-ups, backlog grooming, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, and we track work in JIRA.
- We respond constructively to peer code review feedback and follow the clients coding standards and definition of done.
- We handle project information as Controlled Unclassified Information and complete development within client-owned, client-managed environments.
- We support end-of-engagement closeout activities, including final documentation and ticket closure.
