About The Role Jane Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineering Lead to oversee the development and scaling of critical services, APIs, and SDKs that power the company's digital merchandising platform. As a key member of the engineering leadership team, the successful candidate will be responsible for guiding a team of engineers, making architectural decisions, and collaborating cross-functionally with product managers, data scientists, and ML engineers to improve advertising products and platform performance.
This role involves setting technical standards, ensuring high-quality code and processes, and driving innovation in the ad tech space. The Lead will also play a pivotal role in talent development, hiring, and process improvements, ensuring the engineering team remains agile, efficient, and aligned with company goals.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience within product-centered teams
- 2+ years in a leadership or people-management role, with proven success in shipping impactful work
- Experience with AdTech systems, including retail media, sponsored listings, or marketplace advertising
- Hands-on experience with ad serving, real-time decisioning, campaign pacing, budgeting, attribution, and measurement
- Strong systems-level problem-solving skills across distributed systems and infrastructure
- Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, and code design principles
- Proficiency in at least one system language (preferably Go, Java, or similar) and ability to adapt to new languages
- Database expertise with relational, columnar, and document-based databases
- Excellent technical communication skills, capable of articulating complex ideas clearly
- Collaborative mindset with a passion for mentoring and knowledge sharing
- Experience with cloud infrastructure provisioning and testing, preferably using Terraform or CloudFormation
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of software engineers in developing scalable services, APIs, and SDKs for the digital merchandising platform
- Collaborate with technical leads to establish shared prioritization frameworks and ensure alignment with product roadmaps
- Drive architectural and design decisions for the advertising platform, setting technical direction and building consensus
- Partner with Product Managers to develop robust, user-friendly advertising products
- Work with Data Scientists and ML Engineers to analyze data and iteratively improve advertising performance
- Establish and maintain engineering standards, including code quality, review processes, and technical practices
- Conduct design and code reviews to uphold quality and performance benchmarks
- Identify and resolve system performance bottlenecks through delegation and technical oversight
- Manage and mentor a team of 3-4 engineers, supporting their professional growth through regular feedback and goal-setting
- Assist in hiring efforts by defining roles, evaluating candidates, and assessing technical skills
- Proactively identify gaps in team capabilities or processes and implement concrete improvements
