About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our team, focusing on developing scalable, cloud-native microservices that support our healthcare data infrastructure. This role involves designing and building microservices using Spring Boot, deploying on AWS EKS (Kubernetes), and utilizing containerization with Docker.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and healthcare data standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices in API development, DevOps pipelines, and automation, ensuring the stability and performance of our systems. This position offers the flexibility of a hybrid remote role for those located near Raleigh, NC, allowing you to work effectively while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
Your contributions will directly impact healthcare delivery by enabling efficient data processing, integration, and system optimization, ultimately supporting our mission to improve health outcomes and promote health equity.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on distributed systems and microservices
- 4+ years of experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Codex, Claude, or similar platforms
- 2+ years of experience working within the healthcare domain, particularly with Provider Data and MDM systems
- 2+ years of experience with AI builders and AI-driven platforms for automation and productivity enhancement
- Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and Java-based microservices architecture
- Proficiency with Kafka or other event streaming platforms
- Experience with AWS cloud services including EKS, S3, Lambda, etc.
- Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB and search platforms like OpenSearch/Elasticsearch
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for container orchestration
- Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards such as FHIR (preferred)
- Strong understanding of system performance tuning, database optimization, and distributed transaction handling
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain cloud-native microservices utilizing Spring Boot, deployed on AWS EKS with full containerization
- Develop and optimize event-driven data architectures leveraging Kafka/MSK for high-throughput, low-latency processing
- Implement scalable data solutions using MongoDB and OpenSearch, ensuring efficient indexing and retrieval of healthcare datasets
- Lead initiatives related to Master Data Management (MDM) and provider data integration, ensuring data accuracy and consistency
- Drive system performance improvements through database tuning, API optimization, and distributed transaction management
- Build and maintain automated testing frameworks for API, event-driven, and contract testing across microservices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish API standards, DevOps pipelines, and CI/CD automation processes
- Support production environments through observability, monitoring, and proactive issue resolution in distributed systems
- Participate in code reviews, technical documentation, and knowledge sharing to promote best practices within the team
