About The Role As a Staff Software Engineer within Stukent's Engineering department, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our technical architecture and driving large-scale platform initiatives. Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, this remote position offers an exciting opportunity to lead cross-team technical efforts, develop shared libraries, and optimize our cloud infrastructure. You will act as a technical steward, ensuring the organization adopts modern, sustainable patterns while retiring legacy systems.
Your expertise will enable our engineering teams to deliver high-quality, scalable features efficiently and reliably. The ideal candidate is a visionary problem-solver with a proactive mindset, capable of bridging strategic objectives with hands-on implementation. This role is perfect for someone passionate about educational technology, eager to lead innovative solutions, and committed to engineering excellence.
Qualifications 5-8+ years of professional software development experience with demonstrated cross-team leadership
Proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js
Experience with GraphQL and React web application frameworks
Hands-on experience provisioning and optimizing cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to mentor junior staff and lead technical discussions to achieve high-quality architectural outcomes
Proven expertise in architecting and optimizing CI/CD pipelines with tools like GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or GitLab
Experience with C# is preferred
Experience in the EdTech industry is preferred
Cloud certifications such as Microsoft Azure or AWS are preferred
Experience developing ADA-compliant user experiences is a plus Responsibilities Deliver end-to-end features and platform capabilities by translating requirements into high-quality, functional code
Design and implement solutions for complex, cross-domain challenges, ensuring seamless system integration
Develop shared libraries, frameworks, and internal tools to multiply engineering impact across teams
Identify and prioritize the retirement of legacy architecture in favor of modern, sustainable patterns
Create documentation and architectural blueprints to establish engineering standards and best practices
Promote continuous improvement by introducing modern methodologies and industry best practices
Provision, optimize, and manage cloud infrastructure for cost-efficiency and high performance
Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code modules to enable teams to provision resources within organizational guardrails
