AlignerrSoftware Engineer – Python (Advanced) About The Role What if your Python skills could directly influence how AI systems reason about code, data, and complex engineering problems? We're looking for advanced Python engineers to work on real-world, high-impact tasks — building, evaluating, and improving the software and data workflows that sit at the cutting edge of AI development. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role.
You'll work independently on meaningful, task-based engineering challenges — no meetings, no commute, no rigid schedule.
Commitment: 10–40 hours/week What You'll Do Design, implement, and optimize advanced Python code for production-level systems
Analyze and manipulate structured datasets to support engineering and AI modeling workflows
Write and optimize complex SQL queries to extract, transform, and validate data
Review, debug, and improve existing codebases for performance, reliability, and maintainability
Translate ambiguous, high-level requirements into concrete, well-reasoned technical solutions
Evaluate tradeoffs and recommend best-fit approaches with clear, consulting-style thinking
Document assumptions, decisions, and implementation details with precision Who You Are Must-Have 4+ years of professional software engineering experience
Advanced Python proficiency — clean architecture, performance optimization, and confident debugging
Strong hands-on experience analyzing real-world datasets
Solid SQL skills, including complex queries and data validation
Ability to reason through open-ended problems and deliver structured, well-documented solutions
Prior consulting or client-facing experience is a strong plus Nice to Have Experience working with large, messy, or unstructured datasets
Familiarity with backend systems, REST APIs, or data pipelines
Comfort reviewing and evaluating AI-generated code or analytical outputs
