Software Engineer (Python) | Fully Remote | Fintech & Digital Assets | B2B Contract

We're looking for a Software Engineer who thrives in backend engineering, enjoys solving complex distributed systems challenges, and wants to own services from design through production. You'll be joining a high-performing engineering team building scalable, cloud-native products at the intersection of modern banking and digital assets.
This is a fully remote opportunity with a strong engineering culture focused on ownership, autonomy, and technical excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Python
- Develop and support cloud-native applications running in AWS
- Build and evolve microservices-based systems serving critical customer and financial workflows
- Design and maintain REST APIs and service integrations
- Implement event-driven solutions using messaging technologies and asynchronous processing
- Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to engineering best practices
- Improve reliability, monitoring, observability, and performance across production systems
- Collaborate with distributed engineering teams in a fully remote environment
- Own services end-to-end, including development, deployment, monitoring, and incident resolution
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and continuous improvement initiatives
Skills & Experience Required:
- 4+ years of commercial Software Engineering experience
- Strong Python development experience
- Experience with FastAPI, Django, or Flask
- Hands-on AWS experience in production environments
- Experience building and supporting microservices architectures
- Strong understanding of REST APIs and distributed systems
- Experience with Docker and containerized applications
- Experience with CI/CD and automated testing
- Solid understanding of PostgreSQL or similar relational databases
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote team
- Kafka, RabbitMQ, SNS/SQS, or other messaging technologies
- Event-Driven Architecture experience
- Domain-Driven Design (DDD)
- Kubernetes
- Fintech, banking, payments, or digital asset experience
- Production support and incident management experience
