Job Title: Software Engineer (TS/SCI Required)

Location: Dayton, OH (Remote but willing to travel)

Clearance: Active TS/SCI required

Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Role

Rackner is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to support mission-critical systems in a secure environment. This role involves designing, developing, and deploying cloud-native applications using modern software engineering practices. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to build scalable, resilient, and secure solutions that directly support national defense and intelligence missions.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable software solutions using modern programming languages

Build and deploy cloud-native, containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes

Develop and maintain microservices-based architectures and RESTful APIs

Implement event-driven architectures using tools such as Kafka

Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices to enable rapid, secure delivery

Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices

Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile development environment

Support observability, monitoring, and system performance optimization

Required Qualifications

Active TS/SCI clearance

Strong proficiency in one or more modern programming languages:

Python, Java, C++, JavaScript, or TypeScript

Experience with front-end frameworks such as:

Angular, React, or Vue.js

Experience with backend frameworks such as:

Flask, Django, or Spring Boot

Hands-on experience with:

Docker and Kubernetes

Helm for Kubernetes deployments

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud

Strong understanding of

Microservices architecture

RESTful APIs and OpenAPI specifications

Event-driven systems (e.g., Kafka)

DevSecOps & Engineering Practices

Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab or Jenkins

Familiarity with GitOps workflows

Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC):

Terraform and/or Ansible

Experience working in Agile environments

Knowledge of observability and monitoring tools

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting DoD or federal programs

Familiarity with secure software development practices

Experience working in highly regulated or classified environments
