Adrienne is a nerd, a gamer, and an academic in media studies. She has earned degrees from the USC School of Cinematic Arts, Dodge College at Chapman, and a doctorate from Claremont Graduate University. Adrienne’s dissertation on transmedia storytelling uses Naughty Dog’s video game, "The Last of Us" and HBO’s "The Last of Us" series to explore the similarities in narrative structure of episodic melodramas and video games.
She has an edited collection, “The Psychgeist of Pop Culture: The Last of Us”releasing in 2025 and a manuscript on “The Last of Us” coming out in 2026. Her episodic script, Belly of the Beast, seeks to create multidimensional African American characters that reflect authentic lived experiences, challenging traditional media representations while exploring complex themes of identity, community, and resilience.
