From the surgical side of vascular medicine to a self-built AI health platform — every part of it learned and built by hand. A year inside Kaiser Permanente's hospice program led to the surgical side of two vascular practices in Los Angeles and Laguna Woods, where I wrote every procedure and consult report, ran front and back office, hired and trained the staff, and helped take a clinic from 80 cases a month to 300. While finishing a double bachelor's at UC Irvine, I had an idea for something that didn't exist: a fitness social network with an AI at the center that actually reads a person's health data and answers from the medical literature.
I taught myself to code, do data science, and ship an iOS app to build it. Three years later, ROID is live with roughly 1,550 users and 250–300 people opening it every day. I also partner with Cal State Fullerton, mentoring business and marketing students who intern at ROID for course credit.
