Areea Ahmed

I’m a student at Rutgers University on the pre-med track, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Biological Sciences. I’m also a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) and am looking to become more involved in the healthcare field. I’m especially interested in gaining hands-on experience, working with healthcare professionals, helping patients, and contributing to a team while continuing to build the skills I’ll need for my future career in medicine.

Sterilization Unit Intern at Jersey City Medical Center (2024-07 – 2024-08)

• Delivered sterilized medical instruments and supplies to the Operating Room and other hospital departments
• Organized, stocked, and maintained medical supply inventory within the Sterilization Unit
• Performed quality-control checks by reviewing expiration dates and reporting supply discrepancies to supervisor
• Communicated with hospital departments to coordinate supply requests and timely deliveries
• Supported daily Sterilization Unit operations while following hospital safety, infection-control, and organizational procedures

Physical Therapist Intern at JAG Physical Therapy (2024-10 – 2025-06)

• Prepared treatment areas by cleaning beds, organizing equipment, and supporting efficient patient turnover
• Observed patient exercises and assisted physical therapists with treatment setup, timers, and session organization
• Documented patient progress and treatment-session notes and greeted and guided patients throughout visits

Member / Volunteer at Key Club (2022 – 2025)

• Supported community-service initiatives including Breast Cancer Awareness Walks, toy and gift drives, Backpacks for Life, autism-awareness events, and community cleanups
