- As an office assistant to the main coordinator, my responsibilities involved assisting with catered community events, designing and posting flyers, and maintaining communal spaces within the building.
Manager at Campus Dining Services (2019-09 – 2022-05)
- My managerial duties with Princeton University’s Campus Dining Services included overseeing other student workers during the entirety of my shift, from washing dishes to sweeping and mopping.
- Managers must complete other tasks as well, including locking the kitchen at the end of the shift and taking recyclables, compost, and trash to the dumpsters.
Editor, Layout Editor at Figments Magazine (2019-09 – 2022-04)
Figments Magazine is Princeton University’s premier speculative fiction publication and releases an issue once per semester. Princeton students and alumni can submit short stories, poetry, or visual art that is speculative, often falling into the genres of science fiction, fantasy/magical realism, and horror.
- As an editor, I worked closely with 2-4 authors per semester to copyedit and polish their pieces, giving detailed feedback on aspects of their work from small suggestions regarding word choice, sentence structure, and the flow of the text to large-scale comments about plot, character development, and world-building.
- As the leader of the layout team for the print edition of the magazine, I made decisions about how to make the issue look aesthetically pleasing and consistently formatted throughout despite the widely varying length and style of the pieces published in any given issue. This required creativity and extensive knowledge of Microsoft programs.
Events Director at Figments Magazine (2019-09 – 2021-12)
Figments Magazine is Princeton University’s premier speculative fiction publication and releases an issue once per semester. Princeton students and alumni can submit short stories, poetry, or visual art that is speculative, often falling into the genres of science fiction, fantasy/magical realism, and horror.
- As the Events Director, I planned, coordinated, advertised, and led events for university students and faculty that were “on brand” for our student group (i.e., fantasy/sci-fi themed or related events). These events were designed to create an interest in the magazine among the attendees in order to increase engagement with the existing Figments community, ensuring the longevity of the publication and growth of the group.
Student Staff Member at McGraw Center for Teaching and Learning | OLE (2019-09 – 2020-03)
The OLE (Online Learning Environments) branch of the McGraw Center at Princeton University is focused on developing online supplements to the courses that Princeton has to offer. Much of the work done there is shooting, editing, and adding captions to lecture videos, as well as makes videos that are used to advertise and inform students about various aspects of campus life.
- My job in the department was to help with any current projects. I reviewed and corrected closed captioning for lecture videos, edited footage, conducted research on various topics, and designed flyers for University events.
