Good knowledge of relational database internals, specifically the inner workings of the query execution engine.
Over 20 years hands-on experience adding features, improving performance, tracking and fixing complex bugs and memory management in the executor and many of its operators, especially the high memory operators of Hash-Join, Hash-Aggregate and Sort.
Also worked on improvements for backup-restore, columnar storage management, logging, and data types.
Most of the work done in the C/C++ environment, individually or in small teams, in collaboration with relevant people from the Planner/Storage/Connectivity/Build teams, QA, Customer Support, Product, and Documentation.
Work experience gained over three database products: The Tandem (later HP) Non-Stop Sql/MX, the ParAccel PADB (the basis for AWS RedShift), and the Apache schema-free Drill.
