Medical Assistant / Phelbotomist

Detail-oriented and highly skilled Medical Assistant with a strong foundation as a Hospital Corpsman in the U.S. Navy and current experience as a full-time Phlebotomist in an outpatient clinic. Adept in both clinical procedures and administrative tasks, with proven success in fast-paced, high-pressure environments. Dedicated to providing compassionate, efficient care and supporting diagnostic services through expert-level phlebotomy and laboratory testing.
As a Phlebotomist, I perform a wide range of specimen collection and in-house lab testing for scheduled patients, walk-ins, and those referred from external providers. My responsibilities include:
Venipuncture and capillary blood collection
Urinalysis (including microscopic evaluation for crystals, casts, and cells)
Point-of-care testing:
Rapid flu, COVID-19 antigen and PCR, strep, mono, and fecal occult blood tests
Patient identification, specimen labeling, and strict adherence to HIPAA, CLIA, and OSHA standards
Accurate EMR documentation and order entry
Maintaining lab cleanliness, supply inventory, and infection control compliance
Coordinating closely with clinical staff to ensure fast and accurate diagnostics
This role has given me hands-on experience in phlebotomy and point-of-care testing, preparing me for national certification and long-term growth in the clinical laboratory field.
