Student Fellowship in Anatomic Pathology and Laboratory Medicine November 2010 - June 2011
During my fellowship, I rotated on various anatomic and clinical pathology services, with the duties and responsibilities of a first year PGY-1 pathology resident. The program included four months of surgical pathology, two months of adult and pediatric autopsy, one month of cytopathology, and one month of hematopathology, microbiology, and transfusion medicine combined. As a functioning resident, I signed out cases directly with attending physicians. During my adult autopsy rotation, I attended interdepartmental Chest Conferences and presented cases during the weekly morning Gross Anatomy conferences with the Medical Examiner. I also served as a teaching assistant for the Mechanisms of Disease and Therapeutic Interventions course at the Perelman School of Medicine while serving as the resident trainee on the fetal and pediatric autopsy service at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Bridging the Gaps Community Health Internship Program Summer 2008
The Bridging the Gaps Community Health Internship Program links the training of health and social service professional students with the provision of health-related services for underserved populations. As an intern, I worked at the Hall Mercer Child and Family Unit at Pennsylvania Hospital, along with a nursing student and a dental student. I assisted the Summer Therapeutic Day Program staff with camp activities; reinforced appropriate socialization, conduct, and problem-solving skills with the children; and promoted positive behavior while stressing the importance of sharing and verbal communication. At the conclusion of the experience, my colleagues and I presented a poster titled "Behavior Modification to Promote Well-Being" at the Bridging the Gaps Annual Symposium. Additionally, we coordinated and participated in a workshop and discussion on cultural sensitivity and tolerance for symposium attendees.
