Dr. Bridgette King, EdD is a 17-year sports coach and administrator. Dr. King is the owner and head coach of the Lady Panthers Girls Basketball Association in Duncanville, Texas, and also, a Youth Sports Programmer for the City of Fort Worth Youth Sports Division of the Golf/Athletics Department.
Dr. King was the first coach in the country licensed by USA Basketball as a Youth Development Coach and hosts local programs for USAB. Dr. King also serves as a committee member for the National Youth Sports Strategy Champions, the Region 6 Girls Sports Collaboration for the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health, as well as, the National Youth Sports Strategy Program for the US Department of Health.
She has won both the 2016 and 2019 President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition Community Leadership Awards from both President Obama and President Trump.
Though, Dr. King had been an Adjunct Professor in higher education for 10 years, her calling, which led to her finding her true purpose in life, came when she started coaching Girls Basketball in 2007 at Duncanville Fieldhouse. Dr.
King’s goals are to introduce more girls to playing sports, help improve on the sports participation numbers of American youth, be part of the drive to encourage youth worldwide to play sports as a means of having fun, a means to learn how to socialize and communicate, and also, teach youth athletes to create life-long habits of social, physical and mental health maintenance. Dr. King is also very involved in training and developing youth sports coaches and their staff.
Last, Dr. King and her LPGBA coaching staff, along with her co-workers and employees in Fort Worth Youth Sports, are using various sports to not only teach the fundamentals of playing those sports, but, as a conduit to teach life skills and solidify objectives learned at school.
