I am a graduate of the University of Northern Colorado, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Recreation, Tourism, and Hospitality with a minor in Psychology. Throughout my academic journey, I developed a deep passion for improving individuals' quality of life through engaging and meaningful activities. This passion has fueled my desire to pursue a career as a recreational therapist, where I can make a positive impact on the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of others.
With a strong foundation in both recreation and psychology, I understand the profound benefits of integrating purposeful leisure activities into daily life, especially for seniors. I am committed to helping individuals feel empowered, supported, and connected to their communities through tailored therapeutic programs.
Outside of my professional ambitions, I am an avid runner and adventurer. I love exploring the outdoors through activities such as mountain climbing and scuba diving, which continually inspire my belief in the therapeutic power of nature and movement. This enthusiasm for adventure and fitness motivates me to bring dynamic and diverse activities to those I work with, ensuring that every individual is encouraged to pursue their own passions and achieve their personal goals.
I've had the privilege of working as an Activities Assistant at a memory care facility, where I gained hands-on experience creating and leading engaging activities designed to promote cognitive and emotional well-being for residents. Over the years, I've had the opportunity to lead a variety of events at Hudson Gardens in my position as an event representative. Leading students in summer camps for several years has given me ample experience in working with a variety of people in unique settings as I worked as a counselor.
My experience also extends to organizing games, crafts, and other events tailored to each individual's needs and interests. I've learned to adapt quickly, staying patient and compassionate, while finding creative ways to help individuals feel connected and engaged.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Recreation, Tourism, and Hospitality Management with a Minor in Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado. Additionally, I have earned certifications in Personal Training through ISSA, along with specialized training in Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease Care. I also hold First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
These qualifications combine to offer a strong foundation in both the wellness and psychological aspects of client care, which I believe is highly relevant to the position I am applying for.
