My name is Carmen Cavero. I've been working as an educator for more than 20 years. I have worked in China for the last seven years in two international schools - Yew Chung International School of Chongqing and Changchun American International School, this last IB school.
My role in both schools was as a homeroom teacher and grade leader. I worked in Peru, my home country, for other IB schools for almost 13 years with children from kindergarten and primary. Amongst the position I held in this school are Head of ECE, homeroom teacher and grade leader.
I have a PhD degree in Educational Leadership and a Master’s Degree in Neuropsychology. I am a committed and creative educator who supports my students to express themselves and accept themselves for who they are, as well as embrace the differences of others. I empower my students to take ownership of their learning and help them develop future-ready skills to make a difference and thrive in a fast-changing world.
With over 22 years of experience as an international educator, I am familiar with the variety of curriculums that international schools seek.
My Doctorate, focusing on Inquiry-Based Learning and professional development training (National Program Qualification for Middle and Senior Leaders - NPQL), focusing on professional development, curriculum design and implementation, has equipped me with the skills to provide professional development using a clear theory of change, understanding what the intended educational outcomes for teachers are, and how these will subsequently impact pupil outcomes.
My on-the-job experience has afforded me a well-rounded skill set. I excel in creating an environment where students feel constantly challenged by working on a curriculum with realistic and achievable goals. All children are unique and have something special they can bring to their education; therefore, I support my students to express themselves, accept themselves for who they are, as well as embrace the differences of others.
I have a PhD degree in Educational Leadership that guided me to help meet the needs of students and teachers so that each person can reach their goals and experience positive outcomes. I also have a Master’s Degree in Neuropsychology that studies the cognitive changes that accompany the normal ageing process and the conditions or issues related to social psychology and learning.
I'm currently involved in a training program, NPQL - National Program Qualification for Middle and Senior Leaders - Leading Teacher Development - UK Department for Education, which started last October.
