I spent 13 years in Sleep Medicine starting out in a mobile sleep facility learning everything then moving up from there. Overnight studies, building and running a bi-weekly program 4.5 hours out and most places were 1-2 hours away. I moved up, became accredited and was a nighttime on call supervisor then leading into a daytime scoring technician were I was scoring more than twice those in the company (shown on their monthly status).
I was there and active during the whole HIPAA initiation going from paper to sigital. I moved on to build KU Med's Neurology Sleep lab to becoming an accredited Sleep Center within a year. I handled hiring, studies both overnight and daytime, ordering, scheduling, all equipment etc...I moved on after opening my own coming doing something completely different when it became full time instead of part time.
Now due to health reasons after 19 years I can no longer perform those duties so I have been taking online courses and have amassed 30+ certifications, 9 specializations and 2ai certificates. I had always worked 7 days a week with 2 days off a year if you combined half days for holidays and birthdays. Im a workaholic and I always have been.
Being down following heart surgery now for over a year has led me to searching online for careers I know I can do still.
