Drafting and design are performed using CAD tools. Specialization in mechanical design, geometric tolerancing, and understanding materials and ergonomics is essential. Sometimes the work involves measuring equipment in the field, creating layouts and drawings, and ensuring parts are toleranced based on fabrication methods. Additionally, collaborating with machine operators and engineers is necessary, applying knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems for custom applications.
