I specialize in helping small businesses and nonprofits organize their finances, stay on top of compliance, and make informed decisions with clear financial insights. I combine 15 years of accounting with lifelong learning to provide affordable, modern, and scrupulous bookkeeping.
’m the owner of Accounting for Clarity, and I’m passionate about helping businesses navigate the often confusing world of accounting with clarity and precision.
As a teen, I learned bookkeeping from my mom, using green ledgers and a kerchunking 10-key calculator and did the books for the family auto repair shop. In college, I temped as an accounting specialist in numerous settings, including a wholesale nursery, a nonprofit think tank, a K Street lobbying firm, and a property management company.
After college, I transitioned into technical writing, creating help guides for electronic design automation software. Though I didn’t have a background in electrical engineering, I worked closely with subject matter experts to translate complex technical concepts into clear, user-friendly language for engineers.
Since returning to bookkeeping in 2018, I've set up books for Lyft drivers and cleaning businesses, cleaned up books for a dog groomer, a furniture store, and a preschool, migrated a growing construction business to the cloud, set up inventory management for a new wine bar, and streamlined and documented the accounting process for a local nonprofit. I jump into accounting disaster zones and clean up, organize, and upgrade bookkeeping processes.
As an accounting professional, I bring that same skill of translating complex ideas into easily understandable terms, helping business owners make sense of their financials without the jargon.
