I am a 26 year old homeowner from Winona, Minnesota. I've done a bit of everything and I'm no stranger to physical labor.
As any good chef does, I use fresh ingredients to make food from scratch; including Roast Beef/other sliced meats, various pasta sauces such as Alfredo and Carbonara, Breakfast batters, sauces and whipped toppings, Soups, Salad dressings, Ragu for lasagna, and sides Meatballs and breaded mozzarella. Generally following recipes to create dishes by hand. My cleaning duties entail both simple surface cleaning and more complex including disassembly of kitchen appliances and machinery for regular maintenance or regularly with & before/after use.
At Happy Hounds Grooming, I am the longest serving non-owning team member. My day to day responsibilities include bathing and drying canine pets, while ensuring full comfort for dogs, clients, and other pets that we provide service to. Depending on your pets size, weight, coat (hair) type, and more; this process can take anywhere from about 10 minutes to over 3 hours. As stated, it is very important to me as part of my position to keep not only your pets comfortable, but also you, as a client, comfortable. We do this by educating each specific client about their pet's individual needs, and communicating on what we will do and why, while also receiving & interpreting personal requests for services such as haircuts, medicated soap preference, and many more similar factors. I have experience bathing pets of all kinds, including various dog breeds and cats.
Reception mainly consists of making and answering customer phone calls and monitoring daily operations from our front desk station. Happy Hounds is an appointment based (pet) grooming salon, which means we only take customers by reserved appointments. As reception, your biggest task is working and speaking directly with clients and accurately scheduling appointments based upon mutual agreement. Working the front desk as Reception position also means that I will be the first person to greet clients as they arrive and ensure both the business and customer are coordinated in understanding the service we will be preforming on their pet. Receptionist will also be responsible for: calling clients on a given phone number (after your pet's appointment is complete), reschedule missed and/or other future appointments, consult with local vet offices, collecting payment, greeting clients and completing the safe and comfortable transfer of the pet from Client to Employee.
Assisting the Groomers can mean different things, usually depending on the specific need of each Groomer and/or Pet. Duties include providing nail trims, physically holding pets that experience difficulty standing or with other stages of the grooming process, cleaning waste in a timely manner, & ensuring pets are safe and cannot interact with anything or anyone that they are not allowed to. For example, it can be unsafe to let anyone arrive without a leash on their dog. We will kindly request that anybody, whether a customer, an employee or otherwise, to keep ALL pet interactions to a minimum. This can be achieved by using a leash/harness and actively attending to your pet after they are transferred back to you. While this is a very important part of the Groomer Assistant position, safety measures like this one are a fundamental practice of every position at Happy Hounds.
Other basic duties involve cleaning such as mopping, vacuuming, sanitizing tubs, bathrooms, breakrooms and workstations, etc. I have maximal experience in opening and closing, which includes all duties associated with both shifts.
I have also personally reached out to city officials requesting a 15 minute parking sign on behalf of the business, as it is very helpful to customers to have such an accommodation in a high density area of Winona, right off of Mankato Ave. I am proud to say we have been granted this sign because of my inquiries to the city.
I have many responsibilities in this line of work. I spend a lot of shifts washing and organizing dishes, sanitizing tables/surfaces, general cleaning in spaces such as bathrooms, kitchens, dish machine sinks/tables, bar and server stations, etc. I do a lot of detail cleaning on floors, walls, windows and even our outdoor patio has to be swept clear of leaves and dirt.
I also provide service as a host; taking reservations and ensuring that new customers are being served efficiently while keeping track of our expected incoming customers. I have experience in handling cash as a cashier, delivering takeout and to-go orders, checking if everything is correct.
