I have been practicing Interventional Radiology for 19 years. My career has focused on education and service/administration/leadership.
I developed the NSLIJ Interventional Radiology Residency Program and shepherded it through both its initial and continuing accreditation. I have been program director for the Integrated and the Independent Interventional Radiology Residency Programs since their inception in 2015 and an associate program director for the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program since 2019. I am a member of the Zucker School of Medicine Academy of Medical Educators. An honor bestowed on individuals who have made a significant contribution to all levels of medical education. As a member of the Zucker School of Medicine’s Curriculum Committee, I developed both traditional and virtual curricula for the Interventional Radiology Elective.
Nationally, I have lectured at meetings of the Society of Interventional Radiology, American
College of Radiology, Association of University Radiologists, and the Radiological Society of
North America. I have participated in the development of several educational modules for the
Society of Interventional Radiology’s Essentials National Interventional Radiology Curriculum for residents. I was the long time Section Chief Editor of the Interventional Radiology Panel, for the American College of Radiology/Association of Program Directors in Radiology RadExam, a question item and examination database developed for Radiology Residency Programs to facilitate assessment of resident knowledge. I am a member of the American College of
Radiology’s In-Training Examination Content Committee for Diagnostic Radiology and a member of the Oral Boards Examiner Panel and Core Examination Development Committee of the American Board of Radiology. I developed CME Online Modules for the Society of
Interventional Radiology and was Interventional Radiology editor of the American College of
Radiology’s Radiology Assessment and Review (RADAR) an educational program for trainees and practicing radiologists alike.
I have devoted considerable effort to service, administration, and leadership to further the specialty of Radiology. As already noted, in addition to establishing the Interventional Radiology
Residency Program and serving as program or associate program director for various radiology residencies, I am a member of the Zucker School of Medicine Curriculum Committee and numerous health system committees.
Nationally, I am a member/officer of committees of the Association of Program Directors in
Interventional Radiology, Association of Program Directors in Radiology, Association of
Clinical Educators in Radiology, and the American College of Radiology. I also serve on committees of the American College of Radiology and the Society of Interventional Radiology that focus on quality of patient care. I chair the American College of Radiology’s Division of
Practice Parameters and Technical Standards and am a member of the Appropriateness Criteria
Interventional Radiology Panel 2. I am a Vice-Chair of the Society of Interventional Radiology
Quality and Practice Improvement Committee where I chair the Practice Improvement and
Change Committee. In those roles, I work to improve the quality of care delivered by
Interventional Radiologists and the larger Radiology community.
My focus on medical sustainability is an outgrowth of my commitment to quality improvement.
Waste and redundancy contribute to the overwhelming cost of medical care for providers and patients. Within the current system, there are countless opportunities to improve healthcare delivery without sacrificing patient care and while improving patient experience. I am interested in medical sustainability as a founding member of the American College of Radiology’s
Sustainable Committee, am developing a Sustainability Toolkit with the Society of
Interventional Radiology and am a member of Northwell Health’s Sustainability Executive
Committee. As a member of the Greenwell Project, I am excited to work with a diverse group of professionals committed to improving patient experience through the lens of sustainability.
I was elected Fellow of the American College of Radiology; an honor bestowed on individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of radiology and to the American College of
Radiology. Also, I am a Fellow of the Society of Interventional Radiology; an honor similarly bestowed on individuals who have made significant contributions to interventional radiology.
I have practiced adult and pediatric interventional radiology for 19 years where I provide creative and minimally invasive surgical solutions to complex patient problems. I developed out division’s musculoskeletal practice providing diagnostic and therapeutic solutions for patients with benign and malignant conditions as well as acute and chronic pain.
