I have worked with the State of Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Division of forestry for over 2 decades. I have worked on wildfires big and small all over the United States. I have done everything for the DNR including work with equipment, forestry work and I have worked on countless prescribed burns over the years.
I also have good supervisor experience from going out of state as a Squad Boss and a Crew Boss trainee multiple times. I am a qualified Firefighter type 1, Incident Commander type 5 and an Engine Operator.
Burn Crew Member / Fire Practitioner at The Nature Conservancy (2025-03 – Present)
I spent a year working for The Nature Conservancy. I worked prescribed fire with partners like the Department of Natural Resources, United States Forest Service and tribal agencies. I have also been on many burns on TNC lands and work on prescribed fire crews in Idaho and Illinois.
I worked with the Forest Service on sitting up my co-workers for out of state A.D. fire suppression assignments. I have also worked on conservation projects like trail maintenance and wildlife management work for Sharp-tailed Grouse habitat.

I have worked mostly on fire suppression and prescribed burns. I have worked on and with all the types of fire engines that the DNR uses and I have worked with all the fire tools and fire equipment. Other than Wisconsin, I have been on fires in Montana, Colorado, West Virginia, Minnesota, Texas and California. I have also worked in forestry doing regeneration checks, timber marking and tree planting operations.

I worked for Douglas County Forestry in the parks maintaining the grounds and facilities by mowing, string trimming, leaf blowing, cleaning, checking dam levels and other multiple duties. I also worked in the campground, collecting camp fees and taking care of campers and all their needs.

I worked in a fire tower spotting smoke, I would use a fire finder compass to report an azimuth degree reading to the local DNR dispatch. I had many duties like maintaining the tower and the tower grounds. I maintained several DNR boat landings and I would have other projects like posting signs. I also worked the Siren tornado incident.
