Ellie Powers

I am a recent graduate of Fairfield University, where I earned a B.A. in English with a concentration in Teacher Education and a M.A. in Elementary Education. For the past two years, I have worked at Coleytown Elementary School, where I have taken on several roles, including building intern, student teacher, and building substitute. These roles at Coleytown have prepared me to have a classroom of my own, and I am excited to begin my career as an elementary educator!

During the 2021-2022 academic year, I worked at Coleytown Elementary School in Westport, CT as a building intern. As an intern, I was able to substitute teach in classrooms grades kindergarten through fifth. When substitutes were not needed, I provided coverage and support for teachers as needed. From January 2022 to April 2022, my role changed from intern to student teacher. Throughout the course of twelve weeks, I worked in a fourth grade classroom alongside my cooperating teacher, Erika DiGiovanni, and I gained great experience and knowledge. During the 2022-2023 school year, I returned to Coleytown Elementary School as a building substitute to gain additional exposure and experience in a number of elementary classrooms.

As an undergraduate student, I attended Fairfield University, where I majored in English with a concentration in Teacher Education, and I minored in Educational Studies. In May of 2021, I graduated with my B.A. Immediately following graduation, I began my graduate studies at Fairfield as a student in their 5 Year Elementary Education program. In August of 2022, I graduated with my M.A. in Elementary Education.
