Hello, I'm excited to introduce myself! My name is Emily Blanco and I am a senior studying advertising at UT Austin. I am very passionate about natural skincare/cosmetics and have owned a small company that sells natural products since I was seventeen. Running a company has exposed me to many different aspects of business, such as writing, accounting, product development, advertising, marketing, and much more. My goal in life, as of right now, is to holistically help those who deal with severe eczema by providing natural solutions.
Currently, I am seeking an internship in writing that would enhance my written communication and ultimately help me gain skills in copywriting.
I have worked in different companies, such as transportation, mortgages, community engagement, and cosmetics. I'm not particularly eager to limit myself to specific niches of companies since there is so much to learn from all of them. I worked as an operations associate at an office, coordinating a university's transportation and parking situation. I then worked as a loan officer assistant at an independent home mortgage company, followed by a community engagement intern at a concept development and planning firm. Lastly, I am still working as the founder of a small business I started at seventeen in the natural skincare and cosmetics field. In sum, I have gained many skills, such as verbal/written communication, time management, organization, and much more.
I am currently studying advertising at the University of Texas in Austin. I have taken many classes, such as writing/composition, introduction to creativity, intro to advertising, media planning, communications, and marketing. These are only a few classes I have taken; the others are my basics and courses that work towards my degree. Before transferring to UT Austin, I attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, as a biochemistry student. I studied this major for two years, contributing to my biology, chemistry, physics, anatomy, physiology, and nutrition knowledge. I have a very diverse range of expertise, as I love learning new things. For example, these classes could guide my writing for a pharmaceutical/medical company.
