About
Forward deployed engineer. I embed with operators and stakeholders, find the workflow constraint, and ship the full-stack fix into production. That discovery loop is how I moved from project manager to software engineer. I own the React frontend, the Python backend, and the AWS deploy path on a two-person team with the CTO.
Experience
Full-Stack Software Engineer — embedded with stakeholders at Right Angle Engineering (2024-07 – Present)
Ops-heavy engineering and field workflows · two-person team with the CTO
- React · TypeScript · JavaScript · Python · Django REST · SQL · MySQL · Stripe · OpenAI LLM API · Three.js · AWS · Docker · CI/CD · GitHub Actions · Jest · PyTest
- Had already done the intake job. Then owned the portal-to-API integrations that pull external work into internal systems. Ops time on intake dropped ~50%, throughput on the same book of work is about 2×, and the slow part of that sync runs on Dramatiq so the screen stays usable.
- Sat with finance stakeholders on the QuickBooks workflow and replaced it with an internal accounting system. Invoices, payments, and the close now follow bidding and collections inside the product. Finance closes the commercial book there.
- Commercial terms had lived in spreadsheets and in people’s heads. Ops now prices from that company's catalog, approval creates the invoice, and the due date follows that customer's cycle. The platform carries ~70% of company MRR.
- Built the analytics ops and finance actually open: MRR, collections, throughput, and where work stalls. They changed handoffs from those views. I read the same charts, found the stuck points, and shipped the fixes.
- One of those fixes was collections lagging approval. Stripe PaymentIntents, card-on-file Autopay, settlement jobs, and failed-payment alerts now charge when the work is approved. A failed charge stays in a state finance can reconcile.
- Another was the screens people waited on. Request shape, pagination, and thinner serializers cut API traffic ~66% and made the heaviest pages about 3× faster.
- The document handoff was still a physical step. I built in-app stamping and packet customization so an engineer stamps and assembles the deliverable in the product, including when the team is not in one office.
- Embedded with structural engineers on Loadpath, still in development and past proof of concept. Their architectural PDFs go through the OpenAI LLM API into a 3D model and initial loads. Human-in-the-loop review in Three.js, then DXF export. Aimed at about 80% of that drafting workflow.
- Own the React and TypeScript UI those people actually open. Docker, GitHub Actions, Jest and PyTest, and Secrets Manager get a fix to them on zero-downtime ECS/ALB deploys, in place of one-box releases.
- Was the day-to-day technical mentor for a software intern while they were on the team: reviewed their changes, unblocked them, and walked production deploys with them.
Project Manager → Software Engineer at Right Angle Engineering (2024-02 – 2024-07)
- Lived the ops job first: high-volume client intake, timelines, and handoffs, sitting with the people whose day the software would have to fit.
- Diagnosed the constraint in that workflow and shipped the internal tools that removed it, while I was still the project manager. The promotion followed the result.
- The constraint was volume. Work arrived through external portals and manual handoffs, and the tools I shipped then are the intake path that later cut that ops time about in half.
Market Manager at Solcius (2022-06 – 2023-10)
Residential solar field operations
- Led a ~10-person field team. Repeatedly placed in the company’s worst-performing markets, which then delivered the best results under my leadership.
- Improved internal processes ~30% across 200+ installations and reported performance to directors.
