I am a recent college graduate from Augsburg University with a bachelor's degree in biological science. I am eager to start my first full-time job using my degree and hope to bring a fresh perspective and plenty of energy to your team.
I have some experience working in a laboratory. Last summer, I completed an internship with Professor Jason Tan-Arroyo at Augsburg University. My internship involved isolating bacteria phages. To accomplish this task, I worked on three phases: culturing cells, collecting environmental samples, purifying and isolating the bacteriophage.
Through my internship and the various laboratory courses at Augsburg University, I learned to be meticulous in my lab work, taking detailed notes and pictures to ensure that even the slightest details, whether qualitative or quantitative, are not overlooked. I organized data diligently and understood the importance of thoroughness while analyzing lab results. Being cautious of contamination and adhering to safety protocols became second nature to me.
Communication is another key skill I developed. During my internship, I learned that poor communication led to mistakes involving inaccurate measurements of cell media ingredients and procedural methods. I learned the significance of clear and concise communication to prevent such errors. It is crucial to write out laboratory procedures, record proper figures for measurements, and communicate effectively with the team if there are any discrepancies.
