I am currently Chair of the Department of Economics at Christopher Newport University. I served as department chair at Eastern Kentucky University, and as department chair and division chair at Westminster College where I was the first to be appointed to two endowed chair positions—the Simon Chair and Buckner Chair—and was presented the President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. I have held faculty appointments at American University, Berea College, Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, University of Mary Washington, University of New Hampshire, and Washington University in St.
Louis. My research and teaching interests include economic development, international economics, macroeconomics and public economics. I have served as a Fulbright Senior Specialist and a consultant to the World Bank.
