Emerging Theater Artist
Send a job offer directly to this candidate
Hi! I'm Harlan, a queer multi-disciplinary artist (writer, director, designer) working primarily in the theater space. Raised in London by American parents, I spent my formative years making use of London's extensive theater scene: I was at the theater once a week at least, and it was not unusual for me to see more than one play in a weekend.
After attending the highly competitive Westminster School, I began my undergraduate studies at Brown University. After completing three semesters at Brown, I decided to take a leave of absence in late 2016 and returned to the UK.
Back in England, I attended a three-month graphic design intensive and landed a job as a graphic designer and copywriter at Wireforks, a small design studio located in London's East End. After working there for over a year, I resumed my studies at Brown University in January 2020, but eventually transferred to the California Institute of the Arts in September of the same year.
A recent graduate of the Experience Design program at CalArts' Theater School, I am currently seeking opportunities to gain directing experience and develop production ideas in and around New York City.

(*This website doesn't let you add a link to your bio, but note how I was able to get around this issue with my excellent abilities in both lateral thinking and problem solving.)
I have worked customer-facing jobs (as a front desk agent at a number of hotels) as well as over a year at a small design firm in London, working as a junior designer and copywriter. More information can be found in my resumé.
