Jack Ramsey

Hello, my name is Jack Ramsey. I have spent the last year studying in Scotland at the prestigious University of Glasgow, where I recently graduated with a Masters in Museum Studies. When I decided to pursue my career in museums, the University of Glasgow immediately drew me with its centuries of history and connection to the Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery.

While studying there I feel I saw another perspective on heritage and culture and learned new ways of operating within the GLAM sector, and hope to carry those skills into my future career. While there I wrote my dissertation on the role statues and monuments have in shaping the collective identities and memories of communities.

Prior to attending the University of Glasgow, I received my Bachelors in History from Westfield State University. While there I wrote several research papers, one about American-Japanese relations in the second half of the 19th-Century, and another researching and analyzing the life of Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh. While studying at Westfield I also acted as board member and treasurer of the Westfield History Club and interned for the Massachusetts Historical Journal, both roles that taught me skills in teamwork, leadership, time and task management, and researching.

While at Westfield I was also inducted into the Phi Alpha Theta Honor Society, composed of students and educators within the History field.

Intern at Historical Journal of Massachusetts (2024-01 – 2024-05)

• Performed duties that included researching for articles, finding historical documents or photos relating to articles or projects, and proofreading prior to final publication.
• I personally worked on several articles published in the Summer 2024 and Winter 2025 issues such as "Young Vulcans" in the Classroom, exploring "normal" schools and trade training in 19th and 20th century New England.
• Participated in a national project titled the "Frederick Douglass Papers Project" where I assisted in digitizing various written works by American writer and abolitionist Frederick Douglass.
• Continued employment after graduation, primarily in proofreading and researching for articles such as There Can Be But One Mayor detailing the 1938 Mayoral election in Worcester Massachusetts.

Teachers Aid/Bus Monitor at Making Opportunity Count (2021 – 2023)

• Was responsible for the safe transportation of children aged 2-6 to and from school, in addition to assisting teachers in the classroom.
• Aided teachers in creating a stimulating and educational environment by helping to facilitate learning and social engagement skills.
• Helped me gain skills in multitasking and organization, as well as behavior management and conflict resolution.

Lift Operator at Wachusett Mountain Ski Resort (2018 – 2021)

• Responsible for the operation of ski lifts and for the safe transportation of riders.
• Managed lines to keep business moving and reduce congestion and wait times.
