I graduated from SUNY Stony Brook with a Bachelor of Arts in Italian Studies and by May 2023 will have obtained a Masters in Romance Languages with a specialization in Italian. I am also certified to teach English with a TEFL Certification. I am a teacher and also a student, as we are all learning and re-learning constantly throughout our lives.
I believe in a tangible and interactive form of learning. Being able to invoke the same excitement I feel into the minds of young learners is a privilege.
I began my career in 2020 at East Islip School District-one of the smaller districts on Long Island- teaching Italian and Spanish acquisition across different levels. After fulfilling that year-long leave replacement, I accepted another year-long leave at Longwood Central School District tasked with teaching two levels of Italian language acquisition. I began my current probationary position at Sachem Central School District in September of 2022 where I teach one semester of the history and diffusion of romance languages and their cultures and then one semester of Italian language to year seven students across three different buildings.
The students are given the opportunity to experience French, Italian, and Spanish languages before electing one to take throughout the remainder of their education, so my colleagues and I switch buildings and students throughout the year giving us a total of around 800 kids to make connections with and promote a love of learning.
I graduated from SUNY Stony Brook with a Bachelor of Arts in Italian Studies and by May 2023 will have obtained a Masters in Romance Languages with a specialization in Italian. The majority of my university studies were grammar and syntax and language and literature courses alongside pedagogy. I was able to take a course with Valentina Rizzi, the founder of Valigie Narranti who demonstrated how to physically interact with literature.
