As a Visual Arts teacher with over 20 years of experience serving a diverse student body, I have designed a sequential fine art curriculum to develop student's technical and conceptual skills so my students can create beautiful and meaningful artwork that they are proud to share with others. Throughout the art program I have designed, students not only learn how create artwork but also learn how to show their work and talk about their work. They also learn about the history of art, as well as contemporary art and artists.
My students expand and deepen their inquiry into art-making in the context of art history and careers in the arts. As visual art students progress, they will continue to develop their art portfolios which are a collection of each student’s best work.
Advanced students who wish to pursue further study in visual arts in high school and beyond, participate in independent study, intensive workshops and afterschool programs to produce high quality work for their art portfolios. Selected student artwork will be chosen to receive recognition in various art competitions, catalogs and festivals throughout the district, county and state, as well as potential national competitions.
