Hi, I’m Jialu Yu, and I received my bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at University of Michigan, and recently completed my Master’s in Robotics at Northwestern University. I have experience in both hardware and software in robotics. On the hardware side, I’ve implemented and tested perception systems like realsense cameras and LiDAR.
I also designed and 3D printing hardwares using Solidworks. On the software side, I’ve developed control libraries for mobile robots and robot arms using Python, C++, and ROS 2. I also have experience troubleshooting and bridging sim-to-real challenges.
I have extensive experience collaborating with different engineering research teams such as ML, medical and mechanical teams. My most recent industry experience is with Shirley Ryan as a robotics software intern. I worked on simulating exoskeleton-human interaction in MuJoCo, supporting medical and hardware teams to develop the simulation model of a physical exoskeleton system so that they can reduce reliance on human testing.
