I am an RN with over 30 years of varied experience in med-surg, orthopedics, rehabilitation, apheresis, home health and hospice. I worked as a nursing instructor for LVNS for four years which is when I fell in love with teaching. I always loved patient teaching but being able to equip other nurses with the essential skills they needed to be great nurses gave me incredible joy. I would love to continue teaching and helping students become great nurses.
I have experience in a variety of specialties from spinal cord and stroke rehab to orthopedics and urology. I have worked in large metropolitan and small rural hospitals. I ran a low-income clinic and a large blood collection and apheresis unit both stationary and mobile. I have learned how to be successful in many different settings and love being a nurse.
I went back to college to learn how to teach. Just because you have initials behind your name does not guarantee that you are a good teacher. It took me many years of observation and study to become a good teacher. I learned such a great deal not only about nursing education and teaching but how to successfully work full-time and getting top grades in school.
