I am passionate about driving innovation in public health, particularly in the realm of dental education. My motivation stems from the desire to contribute to a cause larger than myself. As a graduating Senior at East Carolina University with a bachelor's degree in public health, I aim to collaborate with others to broaden my comprehension of public health and its intersection with dental medicine.

With over 24 years of residency in Greenville, North Carolina, I possess a profound understanding of the specific needs of my local community and the state of North Carolina. I aspire to continue effecting positive changes in my community by applying the knowledge and experiences gained through my education at East Carolina University, particularly in the field of dental education. Having gained exposure through East Carolinas Schools of Dentistry Preparing tomorrow's dentist program, along with a strong core curriculum on community strategies and evaluation of health problems.

Student Externship DentalWorks  08/ 2024 – 12/2024 

• Independently perform various procedures such as taking impressions, taking and developing dental X-ray, applying anesthetic, coronal polishing, and sterilization preparation of instrument trays. 
• Role centered on patient care and supporting dentist during treatments including taking patient medical records, explaining dental procedures, post treatment instructions, and educating patient on the importance of proper hygiene techniques. 
• Maintaing the cleanliness and organization of treatment rooms, implementing infection control protocols, and assisting in the office upkeep.

East Carolina University, Manteo NC

Student community health internship  06/ 2024 – 8/ 2024

• Help assist in the creation of a sick child program to increase the number of uninsured children in Dare County working closely with Dare County’s Health Department. 
• Reviewed completed needs assessment of parents of students grades K- 12th for their children’s specific medical needs. 
• Gained an understanding of NCDHHS auditing requirements and the ability to ensure that funded projects adhere to the SMART guidelines of Dare County and NCDHHS

East Carolina University, Greenville NC

Student grant proposal class project  1/ 2024 – 5/2024 

• Proposed a grant for Columbus County in North Carolina on the dental needs of students grades K-5th grade. 
• Used budgeting software to streamline the budgeting process and to get a clear overview of your financial situation for Columbus County. 
• Understanding of grant compliance requirements and the ability to ensure that funded projects adhere to funder guidelines.

I have earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from East Carolina University. During my time I focused on the six disciplines of public health in relation to the health of communities. I pride myself on being a passionate and punctual individual focused on teamwork paired with outstanding communication that will benefit the health of the community.

I have worked with multiple outreach programs in Greenville, and I have experience in managing various projects, utilizing appropriate resources to meet strict deadlines, along with skills in the grant writing process. I am a capable individual seeking the opportunity to begin a career. I instinctively offer a unique set of skills that can quickly close any knowledge gaps that will be valued by an employer and team.

After the completion of my degree, I gained my certificate in dental assisting preforming various task all related to patient centered care.
