Kayla is a community organizer and activist with a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology and Women and Gender Studies from Carthage College. Kayla is passionate about community organizing because she believes in the power working class people have to make change in our communities. By helping communities build organizations shared around common goals and values, Kayla hopes to empower and strengthen marginalized communities.
Throughout her work as a community organizer Kayla has founded several organizations at Carthage College such as - Carthage Left Alliance and the Carthage chapter of Planned Parenthood Generation Action. Kayla has also organized several events in her community such as Black Lives Matter protests and rallies, Get Out the Vote efforts, social events, fundraisers, and educational events.
I worked as a Public Affairs Intern with Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin where I hosted a number of community events, rallies, educational workshops, get out the vote efforts, and sexual health education.
I am a community organizer and activist with a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology and Women and Gender Studies from Carthage College. My thesis was a critical analysis on Title IX policy. My paper was titled Is Title IX Enough?: A Qualitative Analysis of Title IX Policies and Procedures on College Campuses.
I am interested and passionate about student-centered methodologies that can be implemented to improve Title IX policy and the institutional and campus levels. Additionally, I am a member of the Carthage College chapter of Triota the International Women & Gender Studies Honors Society. I am also a member of Alpha Kappa Delta the International Sociology Honors Society.
I received distinguished senior awards for both Sociology and Women & Gender Studies.
