- Procedural PA Role (50% of shifts)
- Independently perform Ultrasound-guided paracentesis, thoracentesis, thyroid FNA, lymph node biopsy (cervical, axillary, and inguinal), soft tissue mass biopsy, fat pad biopsy, and abscess aspiration procedures
- Review imaging of target lesions for biopsy prior to each case for surgical planning
- Complete a thorough consent process with each patient prior to time-outs
- Work collaboratively with cytotechnologists or pathologists, US techs, and nurses assisting with each case
- Document pre and post-procedure notes in the Epic EMR
- Protocol outpatient procedure orders by reviewing imaging, correlating the order to the plan in referring provider’s note, and ensuring technical feasibility prior to adding on to PA schedule
- Clinical PA Role (50% of shifts)
- Conduct outpatient consult visits for IR procedures such as thyroid RFA, Y90, kyphoplasty, PAE, and UFE. Enter progress notes for each into Epic EMR.
- Consent / ASA score patients undergoing IR procedures with the MD team
- Place orders for the pre and post-op period (ie. consents, IV fluids, antibiotics, pain meds) for all MD patients on shifts where I am the designated clinical PA
- Present inpatient IR consults to the IR1 MD, to determine whether the IR procedure ordered by the inpatient team is indicated, safe, and technically feasible
- Round on inpatients recovering from IR procedures, and assemble progress notes and discharge summaries
- Complete post-operative call-backs and management for pts with any concern after any IR procedure done by one of our MD’s
- Arrange admissions to the hospitalist team for IR pts in need of monitored recovery time following higher risk procedures (ie. TIPS, UFE). Round on these patients the morning after the case, enter a progress note and/or discharge summary into Epic EMR.

- Conduct internal medicine patient visits including sick visits, routine physicals, pre-operative clearances, mental health consults, PreP follow-ups, ER/hospital visit follow-ups and chronic condition follow-up visits

- Conduct treadmill stress tests, pharmacologic nuclear stress tests (lexiscan, adenosine, and dobutamine), and stress echocardiogram tests
- Complete preliminary interpretations of stress tests, and communicate results
- Utilize the knowledge gained through my ACLS certification to manage acute arrhythmias/cardiac events
- Place and remove IV access, and administer agitated saline and Definity contrast to stress echocardiogram patients when indicated
